GAUTENG GOLFGlendower Golf Club
This challenging, well-designed golf course is superbly manicured and is situated in aesthetically pleasing natural surroundings. Glendower was declared a natural conservation in 1973 to protect the abundance of bird life and lush vegetation on the course. Water is plentiful and streams run through the course into three large dams. This provides for water hazards on 11 of the 18 holes. Added to this are the 85 bunkers that are lurking around every corner of this challenging, wooded parklands course! The holes are long and rife with sand traps and water hazards; the rough and semi rough are thick with many splendid well-established trees and shrubs. The fairways are sown with the hardy kikuyu grass and the bent grass greens make for a putting surface that is fast and true. The signature second sets the tone for a course that demands accuracy on every hole. At 490m this long par 5 can be reached in two but be careful of the stream that runs down the left side of the narrow fairway. The green is well guarded by three bunkers. GLENDOWER GOLF CLUB FACTS:
