Durban is the largest city in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal and the third largest city in the country. Durban is famous as the busiest port in South Africa and is also a major centre of tourism due to the city's warm subtropical climate and extensive north and south coast beaches. The city is also a gateway to the national parks and historic sites of Zululand and the Drakensberg.

Best time to visit

The generally moderate, rather humid, Durban climate lends itself to mild winters and affords good beach weather all round... especially during the months of January through April. Sea temperature varies slightly with minimums of about 18ºC in winter up to 24ºC.
