DESTINATIONS

Garden Route - Great Brak River

Great Brak

Great Brak River is a coastal village nestled in a setting of estuary and sea midway between George and Mossel Bay.

The pristine beaches are safe, uncrowded and offer great surf and rock fishing.

While you’re sure to spot the dolphins which visit the area throughout the year, whale watching is a popular pastime during the winter months with viewing points situated at Glentana, Great Brak and Little Brak River.

Visitors to Great Brak River can discover the magnificent scenery by foot on several hiking trails, such as Wolwedans Dam (6km), the Glentana trail to the old shipwreck, or by walking through the quaint little village with all its historical buildings and interesting history and traditions.

Great Brak River is not only the perfect holiday spot, it is also the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Garden Route. Within an hour’s drive is Oudtshoorn with its ostrich and crocodile farms and the unique and world famous Cango Caves.

To the west lies Mossel Bay for deep-sea fishing and Hartenbos for outdoor and heated indoor bathing. Victoria Bay, to the east, promises perfect waves for serious surfers.
