Situated at the foot of the Boland Mountains , in the heart of the Cape winelands, the bustling town of Stellenbosch is a popular destination amongst both international and local tourists .

Founded by Simon van der Stel in 1679, Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa and is filled with spirit and steeped in history. Traditional Cape Dutch buildings, museums, galleries and historic buildings are scattered along the picturesque oak lined streets.

Stellenbosch features high on the list of towns that have a real cultural flavour. Boasting no less than 7 theaters, the town offers a variety of cultural programs throughout the year. From December to March the Oude Libertas and Spier Amphitheatres host some of South Africa’s most celebrated cultural events under the night skies.

The nightlife in Stellenbosch is vibrant, with a variety of nightclubs, bars and live music venues to choose from.
