The village of Mouille Point lies between Granger Bay and Three Anchor Bay just outside the centre of Cape Town.

This upmarket suburb, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island and Lion’s head, is most famous for its lighthouse.  The lighthouse is the oldest operational lighthouse in the country and is often used as a landmark by locals when giving directions around this part of the mother city.

The eclectic mix of deli, hair salons, spas and boutiques gives Mouille Point a flavour all of its own. The added attractions of the golf course, seaside promenade and the sports and sailing clubs based on the nearby Common, have transformed Mouille Point into one of the Cape’s most popular destinations.

Mouille Point is only minutes away from the V&A Waterfront and the centre of Cape Town, with its vibrant Long Street, trendy Kloof Street and the many museums, galleries, nooks and crannies.

Best time to visit

December and January are the main summer months, making it the perfect time of year to laze away the days on the surrounding beaches, or indulge in the variety of outdoor sport attractions.

In May and June, autumn brings warm days and cool nights, making this time of the year ideal for exploring the area on foot.

From the beginning of July to the end of September, visitors can expect cold and rainy weather in this region – a great time for scheduled excursions.
